AIMTAC Members "Debut" First CD Recording

Picture
Debut marks the first recording of the Amorim-Rufino Duo. A married couple (and AIMTAC members), Brazilian-Canadian violist Fabiola Amorim and Brazilian-Canadian Violinist Vladimir Rufino have chosen to record works that tell a story of equity and partnership. These works present the violin and viola on an equal footing in an ongoing conversation involving the mutual sharing of musical ideas.

Amorim and Rufino’s musical histories are intertwined both artistically and academically. They have performed together as a duo as well as with orchestras and chamber ensembles in Brazil, United States and Canada since 2004, and have brought their art to stages in Canada, USA, France, Italy and Brazil.  In addition to their performing careers, Rufino and Amorim each hold degrees from universities in Brazil and the United States, as well as a Doctor of Music from the University of Alberta (Canada).

This recording brings to life important violin and viola duets composed between 1788 and 2021 including the world recording premier of Two Hearts in Concert. These works stand individually as masterpieces, and together demonstrate the full capability of the genre. Wranitzky, Hoffmeister, Villa-Lobos, Martinů, and Horvat have composed duets that create a soundscape which transcends time.
Debut provides a musical composite of beauty, mastery and virtuosity in both composition and performance.
